A Wildflower Wedding
It’s a privilege to be part of any couple’s day. Each celebration is unique - shaped by the people, the place, and the love they share. But every now and then, a wedding comes along that feels deeply familiar, like finding a kindred spirit.
When I first spoke with Lucy and Jayden, it was clear this one was going to be special. They love nature. They grow things. They notice the little stuff. And they cared. Really cared - about how their wedding day would impact the earth.
They found us through our website. Turns out the messy, real, flower-covered version of life we share online struck a chord.
"Me and Jayden both love gardening and being in nature, and the flowers and ethos Nicole shared online really conveyed the same passion and love we have."
That kind of alignment is deeply appreciated.
Intentional from the Start
From the first message, it wasn’t about matching swatches or following trends. It was about feel.
Flow. Seasonality. A wedding that reflected who they are and how they live.
We planned the florals with flexibility, a bit of humour, and a whole lot of trust.
"Nic was easy to work with and always available. I felt so at ease knowing she knew what we wanted and was in touch with our vision."
Things shifted a few times, as they always do, but the vibe of it stayed grounded with, our key mood words; fresh, vibrant, fun, wildflowers.
The Flowers
Their wedding florals were a riot of colour and texture - joyful, unrestrained, and absolutely alive.
Think wild meadow meets late-summer abundance, with bright pops of crimson, candy pink, burnt orange, and soft lilac dancing together in the breeze. Spires of gladioli, curling amaranthus, and tangled stems gave it all movement and energy - like the garden had leapt up to celebrate with them.
When Lucy walked out and saw the ceremony flowers all in place, her reaction said everything. Pure joy.
"It was surreal seeing my dream come to life… The ceremony florals were the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen - they received so many compliments and made our pictures look so beautiful."
That moment. That reaction. Is one of the quiet joys of this work.
At Festival Farm, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword. It’s the backbone of how we work. From the way we grow our flowers to how we design and deliver them, we’re always asking: how can we tread a little lighter?
For Jayden and Lucy, that mattered.
"The wedding industry has a lot of single-use items and consumerism, so to be able to balance that out was important to us both."
Their love for nature wasn’t just an aesthetic - it was embedded in the values behind their day. Choosing local, seasonal, compostable, and low-impact options wasn’t a compromise. It was the point.
Final Thoughts
Lucy and Jayden reminded me of how incredible fun this work can be. Not just to make things beautiful, but to honour connection, care, and land.
"Not only is Nic an amazing florist and flower farmer, the ethos is super special - supporting a small whānau business who are really passionate about what they do is what it's about, really!"
Thank you, Lucy and Jayden for seeing the heart behind this mahi.
Here’s to more wildflower havens, more honest connections, and more barefoot walks through tangled gardens.
